The Labour Party in the November 8 Gubernatorial Election in Anambra State, Dr George Moghalu, says the party is in the race to produce the next governor of Anambra State.

At the unveiling of his running-mate, Mrs Ifeoma Okaro in Awka, Dr Moghalu charged all party faithful across the state to unite behind him to win the seat of power in Awka.

He said, “We’re sure of what we’re doing. We are throwing everything into this to have success. Labour is not the same with others and we are not in alliance.

The LP candidate urged the local government and ward chairmen and secretaries to embark on aggressive campaign at the local level.

“Every election is local. Everyone go and sell LP to your people. We have made commitment on our part – we will not fail you.

He described the task of wresting power from the ruling power as a collective responsibility. “Don’t be afraid of incumbency.

We can wrest power from them. We only need to be united. Know that we’re vying together because on the ballot paper, you will see Labour Party and not Moghalu.

“We are moving and working together until victory is attained. We will tour LGAs. We will shake the state with our presence and penetrating campaign and your labour will not be in vain,” he assured.

“I believe in accountability. This confidence you have placed in me, I will not fail you. I have discussed and agreed with my deputy to keep to our promises.

He reemphasized the 2023 Presidential candidate of the party, Mr Peter Obi is fully behind them and will soon publicly identify with them.

50 million campaign advert fees

The Gubernatorial hopeful described the prescription of N50million advert fee for erecting campaign billboards by the State Signage and Advertisement Agency, (ANSAA) as an outrageous ploy to stifle opposition.

Moghalu said, “I see it as desperation and manifestations of fear. It’s a matter of people looking for how they can stifle opposition. We’re going to respond officially,” he said.

The State Chairman of the party, Chief Ugochukwu Emeh, had earlier expressed optimism that LP will produce the next government in the state after the forthcoming poll.

The member representing Anaocha, Dunukofia and Njikoka federal constituency, Mr George Ozodinobi, charged party faithful to brace for the onerous task of wresting power from the incumbent.

“LP is the only party the incumbent is afraid of. Governor Soludo is one of the best of Anambra State, a global renowned economist. But governance doesn’t recognize him.

The unveiled Deputy Governorship candidate – renowned educationist, Mrs Ifeoma Okaro, appreciated the party for finding her worthy of the honour.

She urged fellow women to unite behind their own until LP gains access to the seat of power in Awka.

“Women, let’s get ready. We must do it again. We are the real voters. It is time to rally round our own by delivering LP.

“Chief Moghalu has demonstrated gender and religious sensitivity. Let’s support his candidacy,” she pleaded with women of the state.
