Police in Anambra state have arrested two suspects over attack on Police and Military Operatives where Army Operational vehicle was burnt in Enugwu-Agu Village, Oba Ofemili in Awka North Local Government Area of the state.
Command spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga who disclosed this said operatives of the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu arrested the suspects in a follow-up of investigation.
He said the suspects, Uche Egwu (35) and Jindo Onyeka (32) confessed their involvement and provided useful information on their accomplice.
“The disturbing incident occurred on 13th April 2025 where some armed individuals unprovokingly attacked the security operatives and some stakeholders of the community.
“The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu commended the act of gallantry and professionalism of the Security Operatives in managing the situation as no loss of life was recorded.
“He described the situation as a grave and deliberate act to test the will of the security agencies and as an attack on the soul of a Nation.
“While charging the operatives to expand the scope of their investigation for the possible arrest of other fleeing suspects, the CP emphasised the need for collective action to protect those who safeguard the nation.”
