Team Anambra has ended the quest for medals at the 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF) with a total of 18 medals to show for their efforts.
The medals included two gold, six silver and 10 bronze.Anambra attended the festival with a contingent of 100 athletes and 50 officials and participated in about 18 sporting events.
Anambra won a total of 39 medals at the last festival in Asaba, Delta, with six gold, nine silver and 24 bronze.
Sunday Otoba opened the gold rush for Anambra in Wushu Kungfu while Onyinye Judith won the second gold medal in women’s 80 Kilogram boxing.
According to the table Defending champions, Delta, is currently leading on the medals table with 112 gold, 83 silver and 94 bronze.Bayelsa is second with 83 gold, 56 silver and 63 bronze.
Hosts, Ogun are third with 75 gold, 59 silver and 71 bronze while Rivers and Edo states are fourth and fifth with 67 and 58 gold, 50 and 91 silver and 55 and 100 bronze respectively.
The festival officially ends on May 30.
