Nigeria moves to curb airspace violations

The Federal Government has launched efforts to tackle repeated violations of Nigerian airspace by foreign aircraft lacking proper clearance.

This was revealed during a high-level inter-agency meeting convened by the Ministry of Defence in Abuja. 

The meeting was Chaired by Defence Ministers Mohammed Badaru and Bello Matawalle, alongside Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo.

It also included officials from the National Security Adviser’s office, military, intelligence, customs, police, and aviation authorities.

The discussions focused on ongoing unauthorized incursions by foreign aircraft, seen as threats to national sovereignty and aviation safety. 

Key areas included reviewing air defense systems and radar capabilities.

The ministers reaffirmed the government’s commitment to defending Nigeria’s airspace, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
