The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), in partnership with I Am the Future of Nigeria Youth Initiative (IFON) and the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), is set to launch the first-ever Road Safety International Film Festival (RSIFF) in Nigeria.
Scheduled for the third quarter of the year in the Federal Capital Territory, the festival—tagged “Drive Right, Drive Smart”.
It aims to use film and celebrity influence to promote road safety awareness and responsible driving.
FRSC Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, emphasised that the initiative combines entertainment and education to improve road safety knowledge and behaviour, especially among youth.
The festival will feature short films, skits, and media content to dramatize real-life traffic scenarios and promote compliance with road regulations.
IFON CEO, Mrs. Noni Okocha, described the campaign as Nigeria’s first road safety movement powered by film and media.
She called it a timely response to the high rate of traffic-related deaths, especially among youth.
AGN President, Emeka Rollas, pledged Nollywood’s support, encouraging actors to use their storytelling skills for public good and road safety advocacy.
The festival joins a global trend of similar initiatives in countries like India, France, Chile, and Morocco.
