The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Command, has intercepted two stolen Lexus vehicles smuggled from Canada and falsely declared as food items.
Comptroller Babatunde Olomu revealed this during a press briefing in Lagos.
In addition, six containers carrying unregistered pharmaceuticals, used clothing and cosmetics—worth N3.2 billion—were seized.
Among the intercepted items were 3,388 cartons of codeine syrup concealed in water closets and toilet seats.
Others were pharmaceuticals without NAFDAC numbers and falsely declared goods like truck tyres and kitchenware.
Olomu credited the seizures to international cooperation and local partnerships, including the NDLEA.
He stated the command had generated N1.09 trillion in revenue as of May 21, 2025, surpassing previous records and remaining on track to exceed its 2025 target.
NDLEA’s Buba Wakawa and NAFDAC’s Kingsley Odumah praised the collaborative efforts to curb drug smuggling and importation of falsified products.
