A nutritionist and wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo, says living right does not cost a fortune.

According to her it only requires simple but deliberate habits that define one’s approach to a healthy life.

The Governor’s wife stated this in Awka while flagging off Healthy Living Garden Programme in Schools and communities.

The occasion also featured the reintegration of Healthy Living Ambassadors in one hundred selected schools.

Mrs Soludo explained, “Being healthy begins with what people eat and how they  take care of their body at all times.

“I prefer to use the slogan: ‘You are what you eat’. The bottom line is that if you do not understand what goes into your mouth, your body will not.

“Healthy living is a very conscious practice. To live healthy is to live happy,” she said.

According to her, being conscious of one’s body is the first step towards achieving right health.

Addressing the students, principals, school directors and community leaders, she said the three programmes form a unique model in the renewed efforts to strengthen the presence of the movement across schools and communities in the area.

“We have convened again to chart a fresher course for not just the success of Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo in your schools and communities, but in places where these messages and their effects are direly needed.

“You all have been screened and cleared to lead this movement to a level of remarkable excellence.

Visible passion seen

“I’m counting faithfully on all of you because I see a visible passion to succeed.

She described the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo as a product of deep passion.

“What we have always strived to achieve is a culture of complete consciousness. You can call it a mindset of change.”

Mrs Soludo noted that the central focus is to guide the students on the routines for healthy and happy life as well as  to build an army of healthy living enthusiasts.

This she explained would in the long run make every student in the state to be fully involved in the farming movement.

She charged the new Ambassadors and principals to see the task as a renewed responsibility with massive faith and a brand that they must carry with pride.

“I urge you to take up this duty with commitment. Your job is both demanding and exceptional. You are a major part of what we wish to achieve with this crusade.

“As a Teacher Ambassador, your responsibility is to groom our students in line with the standards that we have set.

“We expect to have frequent reports of the club’s activities in your designated schools.

“The reports will help us to monitor your successes, understand your needs and direction.”

Mrs Soludo who said that the club activities have been streamlined to be very effective, noted that the club manual should be a daily reference for ambassadors and club members.

“You must ensure that every club member represents our brand of excellence in character, appearance, and understanding.

“You, too, must lead by example. I expect you to build the right collaboration with your school heads. The clubs belong to the school.”

She noted that the Healthy Living Garden Programme is a project she finds a deep commitment in.

“It is really important to keep emphasizing that healthy living is a crucial way of life.

“The relationship people have with their body will ultimately define what it gives back,” she concluded.
