The wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has launched the distribution of farming tools and cash to women in Zamfara State.
The initiative is to promote garden farming and enhancing household food security.
At the launch in Gusau, the state capital, Senator Tinubu described the initiative as a symbol of resilience, food security, and economic empowerment.
The wife of Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, represented Senator Tinubu on the occasion.
“The empowerment initiative was part of the Renewed Hope Initiative, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, under the Every Home a Garden programme,” she explained.
She said the initiative beyond ensuring planting of crops, is also about planting hope, building resilience, and ensuring food security for all.
Senator Tinubu urged women across the state to embrace the programme, learn from it, and pass on the knowledge to their daughters and sisters.
“This reminds us that the fight against hunger and poverty can start in our own backyards.
“By cultivating small gardens at home, we can feed our families, support our communities, and generate income from surplus produce,”
