Enugu State Police Command arrested 228 suspects over two months for crimes including kidnapping, murder, armed robbery, and vandalism.
Commissioner of Police Mamman Giwa announced the arrests during a press briefing on Thursday.
Giwa said the arrest occurred during the rescue of 33 kidnapped victims and the recovery of 44 firearms, ammunition and 20 vehicles.
The arrests include 33 for kidnapping, 12 for murder, six for firearms offenses, five for rape, 42 for armed robbery, 44 for cultism, and 149 for theft and vandalism.
Among the cases, Oluchi Odoh, 26, was arrested for killing her sister and injuring other family members with an axe.
She has been charged and remanded.
In another case, a four-year-old girl kidnapped by neighbour Esther Adejo was rescued in Abia State.
Adejo and an accomplice were arrested and charged.
Giwa urged the public to remain vigilant and report crimes.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining safety in the state.
