UTME: JAMB apprehends 40 Impersonators

JAMB

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board disclosed that 40 persons have been arrested for impersonating candidates in the ongoing 2025 UTME.

Mr Fabian Benjamin, spokesperson, JAMB, said the impersonators were facing prosecution.

Benjamin lamented the persistent cases of malpractice despite the board’s efforts to sanitise the examination process.

Meanwhile, many parents and guardians are lamenting that the 6.30 a.m resumption time for the exam was too early for candidates.

They added that many may have to travel several kilometres to their examination centres.

Benjamin also clarified that the ongoing 2025 UTME commences at 8a.m daily, not at 6 a.m or 6.30am as widely misunderstood.

“UTME starts at 8a.m, not 6a.m,” he said.

The 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination commenced on April 24 and will end on May 5.

According to JAMB, over 2,030,627 candidates are sitting for this year’s examination across accredited Computer-Based Test centres nationwide.
